About PLAN-B
2002-08, PLAN-B was a leading independent theatre of Copenhagen, Denmark. It was founded by actor Mads Wille, director Jens August Wille and playwright, dramaturge and director Simon K. Boberg, who were all searching for a flexible space for the original, challenging and artistically ambitious stage arts in Denmark. All the years, originality was the strongest characteristic of the productions presented at PLAN-B. We only presented newly written and developed material, we presented at least one world premiere written by a foreign artist each season, and we challenged both the audience and the conventional working processes of theater.
Profile
PLAN-B holds a sharp profile as a stage for the new Danish and international stage arts in Copenhagen. The need of independent and idealistic free spaces in Copenhagen is greater than ever.
PLAN-B only presents original material of high artistic and professional standards and we specialize in the experimental, exclusive, provocative and strongly communicative performances.
PLAN-B aspires to be a living, creative and ambitious free space, where development never stands in the way of artistic results – and where results never stand in the way of artistic development.
PLAN-B is a theater, but will never become a museum – that’s why we make room for musicians, poets, painters and performance artists. Renewal emerges in the encounter, and room for renewal and change is just what theater needs right now.
PLAN-B refuses to take part in the limitation of genres, which is the result of the increasing commercialization. Therefore we present musical performances and Puppet Theater along with drama and comedy plus live music, poetry slam and installation arts.
At PLAN-B we believe in the real strengths of theatre as an artistic expression: Intimate, contemporary, passionate and confronting. We see it as our purpose to strengthen the theatre’s real basis as a living, intellectual provocative, aggressive, debating and communicative media.
PLAN-B actively opposes all moral embarrassment, fear of contact, political hypocrisy and malicious manipulation. All accusations of running a “political theatre”, we take as a compliment – because when politics becomes theater, the theatre has to become political!
Welcome to PLAN-B, and thank you for your time. Theatre is nothing without its audience.
